PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE New Beginnings, Shared Possibilities | January 2026
|
|
|
Happy New Year, Coaching Community,
I hope you’re all staying warm and safe today as the snow settles in. Wishing you a refreshing and inspiring start to the year after a nourishing holiday break.
There’s something quietly powerful about new beginnings.

Objectively, December 31 and January 1 are just two days sitting side by side on the calendar—yet as humans, we experience them very differently. One feels like closure; the other like possibility. That subtle pause between what has been and what could be gives us space to reflect, reset, and choose how we want to step forward.
As we enter 2026, the opportunity for coaching is clear. The ICF Global Coaching Study results in Canada highlight that 69% of respondents view increased awareness of the benefits of coaching as the profession’s greatest opportunity in the year ahead. This aligns closely with our theme, Ascend—calling us to thoughtfully expand our reach and deepen understanding of professional coaching. I would love to hear your thoughts.
A warm welcome as well to the 9 new ICF Toronto members who joined us last month. We’re delighted to have you in our community and look forward to supporting your growth, learning, and connection through the chapter. Our New Member Coffee Chats are here to help you get oriented and to meet fellow coaches.
The Executive Committee is hosting an informal Board Nominations Q&A on January 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM EST. This session will help demystify Board service, clarify expectations, and create space for open conversation. If you’re curious about leadership, contribution, or simply want to learn more, you’re warmly invited.
Wishing you a lovely year ahead, and I look forward to all that we’ll create together in 2026!

Step Forward. Shape the Future.
Our Board plays a critical role in guiding the vision, strategy, and impact of our Chapter—and now is your opportunity to be part of that leadership. The call for Board nominations is open until the end of the month, and we invite passionate, thoughtful, and committed members of our ICF Toronto community to consider stepping forward, or to encourage a fellow member they admire to do so.
Serving on the Board is a meaningful way to contribute your expertise, expand your leadership skills, and help shape decisions that matter for our chapter and coaching community. Whether you are a seasoned leader or emerging in your governance journey, your perspective can make a difference.
To support those who are curious to learn more or are considering a nomination, the Executive Committee is hosting an informal Board Nominations Q&A on January 22, 2026, at 12:00 PM (noon). This session will demystify the role, clarify expectations, and provide space for open conversation. You can register by clicking HERE.
